More government support for community energy?
Community Energy England has called on the government to speed up implementation of the increased support for community energy announced recently in the government’s Local Power Plan.

An open letter, signed by 250 community energy organisations was handed in at Parliament on 4 March. A light installation spelling UP THE ENERGY, worn by 11 people, was displayed in Parliament Square. A twelfth person stood alongside wearing an illuminated outline of the UK symbolising the national movement building behind community power.
Wholly owned community energy projects are popular with the public, and the government’s own analysis suggest that as well as generating clean energy, they help provide local balancing for the grid, thereby saving money and making our electricity networks more secure.
