September thorn: cream coloured moth with serrated wings and stripes across wings

Our plan to record moths at the hydro site over the summer ran into problems when the light sensor unit on the moth trap failed. That’s now been fixed and we set up the trap on the evening of 17 August. We recorded ten moths the following morning, from seven species. Some of these were species we have seen at the hydro before but a few were new. Records of the moths sighted have been uploaded to the National Moth Recording Scheme.

Here are photos of two of the moth species we haven’t previously seen at the site.
