Community-share practitioners visit

A group of community-share practitioners visited the hydro on 2 July. The practitioners come from across the UK. They meet regularly to share knowledge and experience and support each other to grow and innovate in the community-shares market.

The group was in Oxford on a visit organised by Co-operatives UK to hear more about the difference co-operative businesses are making to the city. They also:

  • visited East Oxford’s Ultimate Picture Palace, which went into community ownership in 2022
  • learnt more about the work of Low Carbon Hub, and the role community energy can play in the transition to net zero
  • finished their tour at the community owned Flo’s: the Place in the Park to learn more about its history, and try out its awesome cakes

It was great to hear about other groups in our city that have used the co-operative business model and community shares to benefit their community and achieve their aims.
