Guided tours
Come and experience community-owned renewables for yourself on our our tours.
We are trialling regular opening of the hydro site for visitors. Please contact us for the latest opening hours.
My school or group would like to visit – can you arrange private tours?
We are occasionally able to arrange private tours for schools, university groups, low carbon community groups and other organisations. Our availability is limited (we are entirely volunteer run) but do our best to accommodate groups of up to 15 visitors. Please contact us using the contacts form on the website to see if we can arrange a tour.
Although we do not charge for tours, we would always welcome donations from visiting groups to help us with the upkeep of the site.
Are tours suitable for children?
We welcome children on our tours, so long as they are under close supervision of an accompanying adult throughout the visit.
How do I get there?
Osney Island is just a few minutes walk from Oxford train station and bus stops on the Botley Road. If travelling by car, please use the Park and Ride and take the bus to the Osney Island stop. You can see our position on a map on our contact us page
Where does the tour start?
Our tours usually start by the benches on the towpath at the end of East St opposite the Punter pub.
Accessibility
The tour involves walking a few 100 metres along the towpath and over rough grass. Access to the main site is via the towpath and is step-free. If you have any hearing, visibility or mobiity impairment, please contact the organisers in advance so we can understand how we can best facilitate your visit.
Facilities on site
