Volunteers and directors have been busy this morning sprucing up the hydro ready for Osney Open Gardens on 15 June. The annual clean up involved weeding, hedge-trimming, pressure-washing the windows and brushing down the railings.

The inside of the windows couldn’t be washed because, unusually for this time of the year, the turbine is still running full tilt. It wouldn’t be safe to climb around the screw while it is turning. High river levels meant the turbine was unable to run for parts of the winter, but because of the continued rainfall May has been a good month for generation.
