West Oxford Community Renewables (WOCoRe) builds community-owned renewable energy schemes in West Oxford to generate green energy and provide income to fund carbon reduction projects in our community.
By working with together with other local environmental organisations our aim is to reduce the carbon footprint of West Oxford by 80% by 2050.
The West Oxford model is designed to reduce our individual and community contribution to climate change by:
- producing a double cut in CO2 emissions by generating clean energy and by reducing energy consumption through behaviour change projects
- enabling the community to generate a self sustaining reliable flow of income to fund intensive long-term work on low carbon and sustainable living within the community
- generating a range of other social and economic benefits for the community
